It's April, and strawberry season is here!!

California  peaches are finally here with good maturity and flavor. They are wonderful and it is only May 28th.

It's Spring, and the first strong strawberry harvest is in, rich in vitamin c, iron and antioxidants, grown right here in California. In addition to strawberries, imported ripe cantalopes, fiberless champagne mangoes, peaches, nectarines, plums and grapes are arriving, and on the grocers' shelves.

There are many vegetables coming on strong, too. Cabbage-family greens such as collard greens, Swiss chard and kale are ripe and ready. Sauteed with a little garlic and olive oil, these greens contain trace amounts of suplhur - good for health - and lots of vitamins and antioxidants. Even though it's only April, fresh white corn from Mexico is succulent and sweet, and rich in protein. Kumquats, garbonzo beans, hot peppers are all good and fresh.

Zuchini light green) is in, and it's sweeter than the dark green variety. Baby red potatoes are in, tender and bursting with flavor.
